Reports indicate that the individual, known for repeated online attacks against Swiatek, verbally harassed her on Sunday, prompting swift action from tournament organizers and the WTA.
“Security is a top priority,” a spokesperson for Swiatek stated. “Criticism is one thing, but threats and disturbances are unacceptable. We appreciate the tournament’s immediate response and additional precautions.”
The Miami Open reaffirmed its commitment to player safety, while the WTA opted not to comment directly, deferring to tournament organizers.
