The Delta State Police Command has neutralized five suspected kidnappers and arrested three others in a decisive operation aimed at dismantling a notorious crime syndicate terrorizing the state.

The breakthrough came after operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP SAT), acting on intelligence, tracked down and arrested Adamu Abubakar, popularly known as “Dogo,” believed to be the leader of the criminal gang, at DSC Roundabout in Warri.

Following his interrogation, two more suspects, Abubakar Mohammed (alias “Chede”) and Mohammed Bellow, were apprehended at Otovwodo Park in Ughelli North. Investigations linked the suspects to a string of kidnappings and armed robberies in areas including Iyamuge, Otu-Jeremi, Warri, and Ughelli.

In a dramatic turn, the suspects led police operatives to their hideout in Iyamugo Forest, where a deadly arsenal—including an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, three locally made firearms, two magazines, and over 75 rounds of ammunition—was recovered.

As the operatives exited the forest, they were ambushed by gang members in a fierce gun duel. Five of the assailants sustained fatal gunshot wounds and later died in the hospital, while others managed to escape.

Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe confirmed that the three arrested suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

This latest success underscores the police’s intensified crackdown on crime in Delta State, sending a strong warning to criminal elements operating in the region.
