The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has paid its final respects to former Comptroller General, Nde David Shikfu Parradang, in a solemn but dignified farewell ceremony in his hometown of Pankshin, Plateau State.

The highlight of the tribute was a resounding 21-gun salute, a powerful symbol of honor for a man whose leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the institution and the nation. The echoes of gunfire rang through the air, a final salute to a leader known for his discipline, wisdom, and integrity.

The farewell event was attended by colleagues, friends, dignitaries, and government officials, all reflecting on Parradang’s legacy. Many speakers praised his reforms, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to strengthening the NIS. His name, they said, would continue to live on in the foundation he helped build and the officers he inspired.

The current Comptroller General of the NIS, KN Nandap, ensured the send-off was a fitting tribute to a man who gave his all to public service. Represented by Deputy Comptroller General AJ Umanah, Nandap conveyed the institution’s deep gratitude and condolences to Parradang’s family.

Speaking at the funeral service held at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, Manung, Plateau State Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo, who represented Governor Caleb Mutfwang, described the late retired CG as a “priceless son of the nation” whose contributions would not be forgotten.

Among the dignitaries present were the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, top federal and state officials, as well as members of the business and political class, all gathered to honor a man whose service to the country will remain a lasting legacy.
