James Shines as León Holds América to a 1-1 Draw, Stays Unbeaten on Top

James Rodríguez Strikes Again!

Colombian superstar James Rodríguez continues to silence doubters with another standout performance! The 33-year-old midfielder found the net in the first half, helping León secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Club América on Wednesday.

The home side struck first, with Alejandro Zendejas putting América ahead in the 11th minute. But James, with his second goal of the tournament, equalized in the 33rd minute, proving once again that he’s a key player for León.

This draw keeps León as the only unbeaten team and the sole leader of the Liga MX Clausura, sitting pretty with 20 points at the top of the table.

James’ Redemption Arc Continues

When León signed James, many questioned whether the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star still had what it takes. After a brief and disappointing spell with Rayo Vallecano, expectations were low.

But he’s proving the doubters wrong! With two goals and four assists, he’s been instrumental in León’s success so far.

León’s head coach Eduardo “Toto” Berizzo praised James’ integration into the squad:

“He’s become a key part of the group, both on and off the field. His teammates have welcomed him, and he’s adapting perfectly.”

With León looking to win its first title since the 2020 Apertura, James could be the missing piece they need.

América Falls Short Again

For Club América, this result is a frustrating one. The Águilas were looking to bounce back after suffering their first defeat of the season last week against Necaxa (3-2).

Head coach André Jardine admitted his side should have done better:

“It’s frustrating. We played a strong first half and had chances to go 2-0 up. But León capitalized on a defensive mistake, and that cost us the win.”

Despite the draw, América still sits in second place with 17 points, but they’ve lost momentum in the title race.

Cruz Azul Finds Redemption

In another highly anticipated match, Cruz Azul bounced back from last week’s loss against Tigres, securing a 1-0 win over Santos Laguna.

Ignacio Rivero netted the only goal of the game in the 11th minute, helping his team climb to fifth place with 14 points.

Meanwhile, Santos Laguna continues to struggle, suffering their 10th loss in 11 games and remaining at the bottom of the table with just one point.

What’s Next?

León continues to lead the charge, while América needs to regroup fast. Can James Rodríguez keep his hot streak alive and lead León to glory?
