President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt birthday wishes to his “longtime ally and friend,” former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as he celebrates his 68th birthday. Tinubu shared his warm congratulations through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled ‘President Tinubu Hails Longtime Associate, Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, 68.’
Osinbajo served as Nigeria’s Vice President from 2015 to 2023, working alongside former President Muhammadu Buhari to advance the country’s governance and infrastructure. Tinubu praised Osinbajo for his dedication, stating that he worked seamlessly with Buhari to achieve key developments for Nigeria.
“Professor Yemi Osinbajo will always remain my friend and associate,” said Tinubu, recognizing Osinbajo’s valuable contributions to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the nation. He commended Osinbajo for his cooperative approach to governance, highlighting their successful collaboration without any discord during their tenure.
The President also reflected on Osinbajo’s leadership when he briefly served as acting President while Buhari was on medical leave in the UK. Tinubu emphasized Osinbajo’s unwavering commitment to public service and his pivotal role in the APC.
As Lagos State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during Tinubu’s governorship, Osinbajo was instrumental in driving political and judicial reforms. Tinubu acknowledged their shared commitment to improving governance in the state, notably through legal reform initiatives.
Furthermore, Tinubu expressed pride in Osinbajo’s democratic spirit, noting that the former vice president exercised his right to contest for the presidential ticket of the APC in 2023, alongside Tinubu himself.
Joining Osinbajo’s family—especially his wife Dolapo, children, and close associates—Tinubu wished the esteemed professor continued success, good health, and many more years of achievement.
