Bond Without the Broccolis? Amazon’s $1B Gamble Teases “Fresh” 007 With Barely a Whisper

Location: Las Vegas, CinemaCon 2025

The martini’s still dry, but Bond fans are thirsty for answers.

At Amazon MGM’s flashy first-ever CinemaCon appearance, guests were ushered into the Colosseum Theatre with the iconic “Goldfinger” theme echoing through the hall—promising a grand 007 spectacle. But after nearly two hours of cinematic reveals featuring stars like Ryan Gosling, Chris Pratt, Halle Berry, and Ben Affleck… James Bond was barely mentioned.

That’s right—barely a blip for Britain’s greatest spy.

The biggest bombshell? Not a new Bond actor. Not a teaser. But a reminder that the franchise—once fiercely guarded by the Broccoli dynasty—is now under the creative control of streaming titan Amazon, who reportedly shelled out $1 billion to take over.

Fans were expecting fireworks from new producers Amy Pascal (of Spider-Man fame) and David Heyman (Harry Potter mastermind), but neither showed up. Instead, Amazon MGM execs Courtenay Valenti and Sue Kroll quickly dropped a line that Pascal and Heyman were “hard at work in London” cooking up a “fresh, exotic new chapter.”

And just like that, the tuxedo-clad elephant in the room vanished.

Speculation continues to swirl—Will Bond be rebooted with origin stories? Spinoffs? A Bondverse? The internet isn’t sure whether to be excited or afraid. Some still hold hope for Henry Cavill or Chris Hemsworth to don the tux, while others groan at what they fear will be a woke, watered-down legacy reboot.

Meanwhile, CinemaCon’s real showstoppers came from Gosling’s Project Hail Mary and Pratt’s action-packed Mercy, as Amazon MGM reaffirmed their commitment to big-screen storytelling. Head of Prime Video Mike Hopkins promised 15 theatrical releases a year by 2027, with 14 already locked for 2026.
