Man United Closing In on Brazilian Star Matheus Cunha, Beating Rivals to Summer’s Hottest Deal
Manchester United are on the verge of sealing their first summer signing — and it’s a big one. The Red Devils have reportedly surged ahead in the race to sign Wolves’ Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha, fending off serious competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Newcastle United.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, United have held promising talks with the 24-year-old, who is said to be leaning toward a move to Old Trafford after private conversations with incoming manager Ruben Amorim. Amorim was spotted chatting with Cunha both at Molineux and later in the tunnel at Old Trafford after Wolves’ narrow 1-0 loss to United on Sunday.
Cunha, who has a £62.5 million release clause, is seen as a versatile attacking option, capable of playing as a second striker or out wide on the left. He’s currently one of the most productive forwards in the league, having notched 14 goals and 4 assists this season — more than any of United’s current attackers.
Activating Cunha’s clause early in the summer could help United stay within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules while injecting some much-needed firepower into an underperforming frontline.
United’s interest doesn’t stop with Cunha. They’re also reportedly eyeing several other attacking talents including Ipswich’s Liam Delap, Napoli’s Nigerian hitman Victor Osimhen (currently on loan at Galatasaray), RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and Benjamin Sesko, Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace, and Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.
But for now, all eyes are on Cunha — and if all goes to plan, he could be the first big name to arrive in what’s shaping up to be a transformative summer at Old Trafford.
