JUST IN: FG Declares Christmas and New Year Public Holidays

The Federal Government has declared public holidays for the celebration of Christmas and New Year, giving Nigerians official days off to mark the festive season.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, December 25 and 26 have been designated for the celebration of Christmas, while January 1 and 2 will be observed as public holidays for the New Year.

The government said the holidays are intended to allow citizens to celebrate with their families and participate fully in religious and cultural activities associated with the season.

Nigerians were also advised to celebrate responsibly and take safety precautions, especially while travelling, as many are expected to travel across the country during the period.

The declaration follows the tradition of recognizing major national and religious festivals as public holidays across the country.
