Nigeria has unveiled a machine designed to mechanise the preparation of yam and cassava heaps, with the equipment reportedly capable of producing up to 1,000 heaps per day.

The machine is expected to support farmers by reducing the manual labour involved in preparing heaps for the cultivation of yam and cassava, two major crops grown in Nigeria.
