Mumbai Indians Cruise Past Sunrisers to Climb into IPL Top Three

Mumbai Indians continued their comeback run in the Indian Premier League with a dominant seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday in Hyderabad. The victory lifted the five-time champions into third place on the IPL 2025 points table.

Rohit Sharma once again led from the front, scoring a fluent 70 off 43 balls — his second consecutive half-century. Chasing 144, Mumbai wrapped up the win comfortably in just 15.4 overs, showcasing their newfound momentum after a slow start to the season.

Hyderabad, who are now struggling near the bottom of the table, managed 143-8 in their innings. Heinrich Klaasen stood out with a gritty 71 from 44 deliveries, salvaging what could have been a complete collapse.

Mumbai’s new-ball pair of Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar did early damage, reducing Hyderabad to 13-4 within the powerplay. Boult was lethal with figures of 4-26, while Chahar added 2-12. The innings saw a moment of confusion when Ishan Kishan was declared out under controversial circumstances, though replays suggested no contact with the bat.

Klaasen and Abhinav Manohar steadied Hyderabad with a 99-run partnership, but Mumbai’s bowling attack stayed sharp. Jasprit Bumrah marked a milestone by picking up his 300th T20 wicket when Klaasen was caught at deep mid-wicket.

Boult returned to remove Manohar and then bowled Pat Cummins with a perfect yorker to close out Hyderabad’s innings.

This win marks Mumbai’s fourth consecutive victory, a stark contrast to their rough start with just one win in their first five matches. Hyderabad, meanwhile, languishes at ninth on the table, just above Chennai Super Kings.
