The Lagos State Government and Design Week Lagos have reiterated the need for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to accelerate Nigeria’s industrialization, emphasizing the pivotal role of design, manufacturing, and innovation.
Speaking at the ongoing Design & Innovation Exhibition, Titi Ogufere, Founder of Design Week Lagos, stressed that economic transformation hinges on a synergy between policymakers, financial institutions, and industry leaders. She highlighted how history has shown that nations excelling in technological advancements and manufacturing revolutions were built on strategic design and industrial policies.
The event also witnessed the unveiling of “In Her Hands: Shaping the Future of Manufacturing in Africa”, a book by Demi Samande, alongside the launch of Operation Quadrant Ignite (OQI) by the Lagos State Government—an initiative aimed at strengthening industrial infrastructure.
Lagos Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, affirmed the state’s commitment to transforming the Lekki Economic Zone (LEZ) into Africa’s premier destination for manufacturing and trade. She also unveiled the Lagos State Industrial Policy (LSIP) 2025–2030, a roadmap designed to position Lagos as a globally competitive industrial hub.
With these bold initiatives, Lagos is set to redefine industrialization in Nigeria, paving the way for a future driven by innovation, economic growth, and global competitiveness.
