Agyaragu, Nasarawa – A quiet evening turned into a nightmare on Thursday when heavily armed gunmen stormed Emmy Gold Pharmacy Nigeria Limited in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area. The attackers shot and killed a young woman, believed to be a passerby, before abducting the pharmacy owner and two of his sales assistants.
The terrifying incident unfolded around 8:44 PM and lasted for nearly an hour without any security intervention, leaving residents in shock and fear. Eyewitnesses described how the assailants fired gunshots indiscriminately, sending people scrambling for safety.
“They were heavily armed, and their gunshots sent panic through the entire area,” a witness recounted. “They forced the owner and his two boys into the bush and disappeared.”
Local youths attempted to resist the attack but were met with a barrage of gunfire, forcing them to retreat. The brazen attack has reignited fears in the community, where kidnappings for ransom have become disturbingly frequent.
Jonah Yakubu, a concerned resident, decried the worsening security situation. “We are living in fear. Kidnappers are becoming more daring by the day. Something needs to be done before it gets completely out of hand.”
He urged the state governor and security agencies to take immediate action to curb the rising wave of kidnappings and ensure the safe return of those abducted.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the Nasarawa State Police Command for confirmation of the incident were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
This latest attack adds to growing concerns about insecurity in the region, as residents demand urgent government intervention.
