Victory for Eto’o! Court Orders CAF to Reinstate His Candidacy for Key Election

Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o has won a legal battle against the Confederation of African Football (CAF), securing his right to stand in the upcoming CAF Executive Committee elections.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled on Friday that CAF must reinstate Eto’o’s candidacy, overturning its earlier decision to block him from the election scheduled for March 12, 2025.

Eto’o, who has been president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) since 2021, had challenged CAF’s decision at the sports court, ensuring his name remains on the ballot.

With sources indicating that the former Barcelona star is eyeing a CAF vice-presidency position, this ruling marks a significant step in his quest to influence African football at the highest level.
