Texas Showdown: Rep. Jasmine Crockett Faces GOP Fury Over “Governor Hot Wheels” Remark

Washington, D.C.

The political battlefield just got hotter as Republican Rep. Randy Weber is gearing up to introduce a resolution to censure Democratic firebrand Rep. Jasmine Crockett. The move comes after Crockett took aim at Texas Gov. Greg Abbott during a Human Rights Campaign event in Los Angeles, calling him “Governor Hot Wheels” and a “hot a** mess.” The GOP isn’t having it, and Weber is leading the charge to make her pay.

Crockett, known for her bold and unapologetic style, quickly hit back, clarifying that her remarks had nothing to do with Abbott’s wheelchair use but rather his controversial migrant transportation policies. “I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors,” she wrote in a fiery statement on X. She doubled down, emphasizing that she was calling Abbott’s policies a “hot a** mess,” not mocking his disability.

Abbott, who was paralyzed at 26 after a tragic accident, has yet to comment. But Weber’s resolution, set to be introduced on Wednesday, could force House Republicans to act swiftly. If Weber makes the measure privileged, it could compel House leadership to take it up without delay, adding another explosive chapter to an already contentious Congress.

This isn’t the first time Republicans have flexed their censure muscle this month. Just weeks ago, they successfully moved against Texas Democrat Rep. Al Green for disrupting Donald Trump’s congressional address. With tensions boiling over in D.C., it’s clear both parties are playing hardball, and no one is safe from the political crossfire.

Texas, Washington, and the nation are watching—will Crockett stand her ground, or will she face the consequences of a political storm of her own making? Stay tuned.
