Leaders of the African Democratic Congress have reaffirmed their decision to proceed with their national convention in Abuja, despite uncertainties surrounding the event location.

Party figure Dino Melaye made this position clear while addressing reporters, stating that all necessary arrangements had already been concluded at the initially chosen venue.

According to him, the party entered into a formal agreement with the management of the Rainbow Event Centre, including full payment, making any attempt to halt the event unjustifiable.

The situation escalated after party officials alleged that external pressure was applied to the venue’s operators, urging them to withdraw from the agreement. The development was described by the party as an effort to interfere with its internal processes.

Despite these claims, Nyesom Wike, who oversees the Federal Capital Territory, dismissed any suggestion of involvement. He stated that he had no knowledge of such requests and emphasized that public venues are available to organisations that follow the required procedures.

The dispute had earlier raised concerns within the party, especially after reports suggested difficulties in securing alternative locations within a short timeframe.

However, ADC leaders have maintained a firm stance, insisting that the convention will proceed as scheduled and that no external influence will derail their activities.
