The African Democratic Congress has suspended the collation of its presidential primary election results ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The party announced the decision late Tuesday through the Chairman of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, Ikechi Emenike.
Emenike said the suspension would allow Muslim members of the party to celebrate Sallah peacefully. He also explained that some returning officers were unable to reach Abuja because of flight delays.
“We are postponing the collation to allow our brothers and sisters celebrate Sallah and participate in the religious activities,” he said.
He added that the collation of the remaining results would continue by 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Before the suspension, the party had already announced results from 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The remaining states yet to complete the process include Borno, Kebbi, Anambra, Abia, Ekiti, Ondo, Gombe, Oyo, Imo, Yobe, Nasarawa, Enugu, Benue, Osun, Adamawa, Kogi, Kano, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba and Zamfara.
The ADC presidential primary has continued to attract national attention as political parties prepare for the 2027 general election.
Top contenders in the race include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Party officials expressed confidence that the remaining results would be completed after the Eid celebration.
