The Ogun State Government has disclosed that more than 5,000 housing units have been completed across the state’s three senatorial districts since 2019, as the administration targets a total of 10,000 homes by 2027.

Governor Dapo Abiodun made this known in a progress update shared on Wednesday, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding access to affordable and sustainable housing for residents.

According to the governor, the housing programme has delivered strong returns for beneficiaries, especially civil servants and first-time homeowners. He noted that two-bedroom bungalows in locations such as Kobape and Kainji, initially sold at about ₦4.95 million for civil servants and ₦5 million for members of the public, have appreciated significantly in value, with current market prices exceeding ₦25 million.

Abiodun explained that beyond reducing the housing deficit, the projects have contributed to urban renewal and economic growth. Areas like Ibara GRA in Abeokuta, which previously suffered from neglect, are now undergoing visible transformation in line with the vision of a modern state capital.

He stated that the housing drive has also stimulated activity in the real estate and construction sectors, creating jobs and encouraging private sector participation.

Reflecting on the journey so far, the governor said his administration has remained deliberate in its approach, with a focus on affordability, quality, and sustainability. He added that estates have been delivered across Ogun Central, Ogun West, and Ogun East, ensuring balanced development across the state.

Projects under the housing scheme are spread across key locations, including Kobape and Kainji in Ogun Central, Ilaro in Ogun West, and Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, and the Gateway Aviation Village in Iperu, Ogun East.
