Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has sharply criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the rising wave of violence across the country, attributing the situation to what he described as leadership failure.
In a statement released on Thursday, Obi expressed deep concern over persistent attacks and insecurity affecting several states, including Plateau, Benue, Niger, Sokoto, Kwara, and Kogi.
He questioned why the country continues to experience repeated killings and whether Nigerians are being forced to accept insecurity as a permanent reality.
According to him, the scale of violence across different regions should not be seen as inevitable, insisting that effective leadership could reverse the trend.
Obi argued that the current situation reflects a breakdown in governance, noting that peace remains achievable if decisive action is taken.
He warned against normalising the loss of lives and destruction of communities, stressing that silence in the face of such developments would only worsen the crisis.
The former Anambra State governor also urged citizens to demand greater accountability from those in power, insisting that no part of the country should be left vulnerable to continued violence.
His remarks come in the wake of recent deadly attacks in Plateau State, where dozens of residents were reportedly killed, further intensifying national concern over security.
As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response from the presidency regarding Obi’s claims.
