The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, mocked Obi in a statement shared on X on Sunday, describing him as a “political rolling stone” constantly moving from one party to another in search of a presidential ticket.
“Peter Obi, a political rolling stone that gathers no moss… roaming again in search of free, uncontested, unchallenged presidential ticket,” Morka wrote.
The APC spokesman further accused Obi of lacking commitment to building political parties from within.
“Never willing to remain to build any party. He fantasises to be president on a ticket delivered only on a platter of gold,” he added.
Morka also referenced Obi’s political journey across different parties, saying, “APGA – PDP – LP – ADC on to NDC.”
He concluded by describing the former Anambra State governor as “Nigeria’s inconsolable political drifter.”
The reaction comes hours after Obi officially announced his exit from the ADC, citing internal crises, political intimidation, and growing division within opposition politics.
In his resignation statement, Obi said the political environment had become increasingly toxic and distracted from addressing the country’s major challenges.
However, Obi clarified that his decision was not because of any personal disagreement with ADC National Chairman, David Mark, or former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
“I am not desperate to be President, Vice President, or Senate President. I am desperate to see a society that can console a mother whose child has been kidnapped or killed,” Obi stated.
Despite the criticism trailing his exit, Obi maintained that he still believes a better Nigeria is possible through competent and compassionate leadership.
