The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has denied reports alleging that it is selling scrap materials, refinery equipment, or components from its facilities.
In a statement released on Friday, the company described the reports circulating online as false and misleading.
NNPC’s spokesperson, Andy Odeh, said the company has not announced any bidding process, tender, or approval for the sale of scrap items or refinery materials from any of its locations.
The company also warned the public about individuals falsely claiming to represent NNPC in such transactions.
According to the statement, these persons are not connected to the organisation and are attempting to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
NNPC advised Nigerians, companies, and stakeholders to ignore such offers and be cautious when dealing with anyone making those claims.
It added that any legitimate disposal of company assets would only happen through transparent procedures and would be officially announced through recognised channels.
The company urged anyone who comes across such fraudulent activities to report them to security agencies.
NNPC reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, transparency, and proper management of national assets.
